The title of this Google Tech Talks video by Steven Fowkes is “Nutrients for Better Mental Performance”. However, he does get into talking about sleep.
The talk mentions that if you are going to use a sleep drug, go with Xyrem instead of Ambien. Ambien is a brand name for the drug Zolpidem, which is classed as sedative-hypnotics drug which works by slowing the activity of the brain. Xyrem is a brand name for the drug Sodium Oxybate, which enhances the stage 3 and stage 4 phase of sleep.
The speaker is a quite a smart guy, as I have seen other YouTube videos of him talking. And he writes on ProjectWellBeing.com where he mentions that he’s been “studying health, nutrition and metabolism for four decades”.
